SPECIALITY & PERFORMANCE MATERIALS AND CHEMICALS

DSS BISMALEIMIDE RESINS

EXTREME THERMAL RESISTANCE & STRUCTURAL MATRICES
for Extreme Thermal Limits, Void-Free Processing & Structural Integrity
DSS Bismaleimide portfolio represents the apex of high-performance thermosetting polymers, engineered to bridge the critical gap between the processability of standard epoxies and the extreme thermal limits of polyimides. They cure via a rigorous addition polymerisation to form densely crosslinked networks without releasing any volatile byproducts, making them the absolute gold standard for void-free structural integrity in extreme environments.
Moving far beyond traditional rigid matrices, this comprehensive toolkit encompasses ultra-rigid crosslinkers, bio-based aliphatic liquid diluents, elastomeric tougheners, and monofunctional modifiers. This grants formulators absolute architectural control—whether infusing void-free aerospace composites, formulating flexible film adhesives for microelectronics, or vulcanising high-performance synthetic rubber. Advantage 1 Image
Unlike traditional condensation polyimides that outgas water or solvents during curing, BMIs cure via a pure free-radical addition mechanism. This completely eliminates micro-void coalescence, enabling the production of ultrathick, aerospace-grade composite laminates with zero-defect internal morphology.
Advantage 2 Image
Yields tightly crosslinked networks with Glass Transition Temperatures (Tg) frequently exceeding 250 °C to 320 °C. More importantly, the matrix maintains an exceptionally high storage modulus and aggressively resists creep and thermomechanical fatigue, even under sustained high-temperature operations.
Advantage 3 Image
The highly aromatic, inherently hydrophobic backbone drastically minimises moisture absorption. This results in stable, ultra-low Dielectric Constant (Dk) and Dissipation Factor (Df) values across broad temperature and frequency ranges, preventing high frequency signal attenuation in advanced radomes and 5G/6G electronics.
Advantage 4 Image
The intensely dense crosslinked network provides a near-impenetrable barrier to aggressive aerospace and industrial fluids. It actively resists degradation from hydraulic fluids, aviation fuels, de-icing agents, and corrosive industrial solvents.
Advantage 5 Image
The rigid molecular architecture is exceptionally resistant to oxidative breakdown. It provides outstanding natural flame retardancy without the need for halogenated additives, emiting virtually zero toxic gas or blinding smoke during catastrophic forced degradation—a critical requirement for aerospace cabin interiors.
Advantage 6 Image
Providing a full spectrum of rigid monomers, elastomeric oligomers, and liquid diluents, the DSS portfolio allows formulation engineers to precisely dial in the exact ratio of fracture toughness (G1c) to thermal resistance, completely overcoming the brittleness of legacy BMI systems.

Utilising the highly aromatic structural monomers, this is the ultimate matrix for extreme heat zones. It is widely specified for military radomes, jet engine nacelles, hot-zone structures, advanced structural prepregs, vehicle leading edges, stealth RAS where standard epoxies catastrophically fail.
